Just what is Alt-City, anyway? 

Alt-City Arts (shortened for alternative) provides the opportunity for recognition of student achievement in the arts disciplines that typically had remained as an alternative or on the fringe, also known as contemporary genres.  

Alt-City participants can perform in art forms such as Rock, Rap, Hip-Hop, Beat-Boxing, A Cappella, R&B, Latin, Funk, Spoken Word, Steel Drums, Step and other contemporary experimental musical forms. 

 

Entries are submitted online by Friday, March 8, and are adjudicated based on the following guidelines: 

  • Individuals, Pairs or Groups (group size no larger than 10 members)

  • Grades 5-12

  • Perform a 3-minute, well-choreographed routine

  • Music must be edited to 3-minutes (free from all profanity, inappropriate language, sexually suggestive lyrics, drug references, offensive references, etc.)

  • Any music style is acceptable, but repertoire and choreography inappropriate for a family show is not acceptable.
